Numbers with Robots

Robotics is not only about playing with a robot,it's about understanding how machines how machines work and about communicating effectively so the robot or machine can do exactly what we tell it to do. Effective communication is not only part of coding & robotics, but also very important in any field when it comes to deliver our message to others, therefore it's a skill that will help the kid become better at communicating further in life. Activity: For this activity we'll be using our own robots at home: 1. What do you need? - 5 Papers to write on - Something to write: pen, colors, markers,etc - An empty space where the robot can move freely  - Your Robot 2. Write on each paper one number, you can decorate the number however you want. 3. Put the numbers on the floor, but not too far from each other: max 5 cm far away 4. In storytelling we find that the sequence of a story is similar to the sequences we can find in different coding apps. Why? Organize the story

One of the main skills we learn when coding is to break big problems into small pieces. This happens mainly in the structure of a story, in storytelling there are three parts that are important: Beginning, Middle and The End, which helps us give order to the story, just like in coding. 1 . Create Your Own Command Cards

In our class we work with command cards to practice our coding skills offline, and now is time to create our own! Before we start we should practice the main vocabulary we use: - Forward - Right - Left - Stop Activity 1. Let's practice the LEFT and RIGHT by dancing: Watch the video of the Hokey Pokey! Dance and sing along: 2. Now that you're all pumped up let's start creating! What do we need? - Something to draw on, blank sheets or cardboard paper - Pencil, markers, colors, crayons Step 1 To make better use of the paper we can cut them in 4 smaller rectangles shapes. A total of 10 rectangles. Step 2 Draw on each rectangles a big ARROW, you can decorate the arrows however you want. Map It Out!

In Robotics is essential to know where the objects are so we can give exact commands to the robots so they can find them. Knowing the position of the objects surrounding the space around the robots helps us when coding and giving instructions to the robot. We know that Bluebot and Cybot have a house, their ' houses ' are basically a map for them to navigate and so we have a clear idea where the robot is positioned. Activity Material Needed: -Blank Sheet of Paper -Pencil, colors, crayons,markers or whatever you feel more confortable drawing. 1. Choose a room in your house  Choose a room in your own house that you know very well, like your own bedroom. 2. Locate the main objects Walk around the room and write down the main objects you use, choose objects that don't change their location like Doors and Windows. Building a Robot

Since the beginning of the introduction of Evo-bot , our new robofriend, we've been working on the building of the robot itself and the different parts and tools to do so. Through stories we've learned the following characteristics of a robot: - Robots need batteries, they don't eat human food. - Robots need to be built by us, by assembling the different parts of the body together. While assembling the robot we learn the following vocabulary: - Engine - Wheels - Cable - Screw - Battery  To build  Evo-bot we needed a special tool, The Screwdriver.  We learn important facts about this tool: - We use it only with the supervision of an adult - The tool has different heads depending on the shape at the top of the screw.
